Established in the year 1857 by a group
of Englishmen the Cochin Chamber of Commerce & Industry is one of the
oldest Chambers of Commerce in the country having behind it a 142 year history
of service to trade & industry in Kerala. The Cochin Chamber of Commerce &
Industry is essentially a state level organization, locally controlled, the
primary aim being to serve the region's trade and commerce and to act as an
accepted focal point for trade and industry.
The guiding principle of
the Chamber has always been the protection of the individual businessman's
right to self determination in the conduct of his business affairs, without
undue interference from any quarter. The activities of the Chamber have
undergone several changes over the years in order to keep in tune with the
times and also with a view to providing prompt and effective service to its
member companies. The Chamber has been actively involved in matters related to
civic amenities in Cochin. Other subjects include International Trade,
Tourism, Labour Policy and Labour Affairs, Environment, Pollution and
Agro-based Industry. |
